THERE IS NO OFF-SEASON
ISSUE #47

It’s Super Bowl week, and we’re only a few days away from kickoff of the biggest game in American sports! The Patriots and Seahawks face off for the ultimate prize, the Lombardi Trophy! Drake Maye vs. Sam Darnold. Mike Vrabel vs. Mike Macdonald. Seattle’s elite defense vs. the Patriots’ red-hot defense. While the spread is wide for a Super Bowl (SEA -4.5), I think these teams are incredibly evenly matched and actually really similar to each other. Two teams with relatively new head coaches and quarterbacks, and extremely long odds to get to this point prior to the start of the season. There are pathways to the Seahawks dominating this game, but there are also plenty of pathways for the Patriots to pull off the upset as well! It should be a great game, and we dynasty managers are hoping that everyone gets through the game healthy and good to go for the 2026 season!
Most of the pomp and circumstance of Super Bowl week has happened already, but tonight is one of the big ones, the NFL Honors. This is the ceremony where the NFL hands out the AP’s Awards in an Oscars-style ceremony, hosted this year by the Mad Man himself, Jon Hamm. The marquee award of the night is always the MVP award, but the Hall of Fame controversies have taken center stage in the lead-up to the Honors. News has leaked that both Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft, the architects of the Patriots dynasty through the early 2000’s, will not be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year. As a Patriots fan, I’m supposed to have a big reaction to this. But, truthfully, I don’t care much. My team is in the Super Bowl this weekend, so I’m not wasting valuable real estate in my brain on those two. It’s bizarre, and certainly a dishonor to them, but they’ll get in eventually. Maybe all three of them (along with Tom Brady) will get inducted together in 2028!
The Head Coaching carousel is on its final legs, as all of the openings have been filled, at least through verbal agreements. Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak was the final domino to fall, with the Cardinals and Raiders awaiting his decision. He’s reportedly heading to Vegas, and the Cardinals went ahead and hired Rams OC Mike LaFleur. As dynasty managers, we love to see offensive-minded Head Coaches, but these two are entering into some precarious situations with these two teams. Both teams need to figure out their future at the quarterback position, to support the elite skill-position players they already inherited with these teams.
Finally, last week we got to see some of the future stars of fantasy football practice together in Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl. Unfortunately, this year’s Senior Bowl class was not as impressive as the ones we’ve seen in recent years. LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier had an impressive week, and earned the MVP award for the game, but he’s a day two pick at best, and probably will fall to day three. Next up for the prospects is the NFL Combine, which we’ll cover extensively here at DLF.
Now that there is only one critical game left on the NFL schedule, DLF’s content shifts dramatically towards the NFL Draft and dynasty fantasy football rookie drafts! We covered one of the Conference runner-ups last week with RJ Harvey and the Denver Broncos, so we’ll take a look at the NFC this time. Kyren Williams was the RB8 this season. It’s his third-straight top ten finish, even with the late-season emergence of Blake Corum. The Rams have Williams locked up long-term, but the team’s future at the quarterback position is up in the air. Let’s take a look at his dynasty value and project his outlook for next season and beyond.

Kyren Williams’s Dynasty ADP History, per DLF.
Since his sophomore-year breakout, Williams has been a top 50 dynasty fantasy football pick. With age, it’s flirted much closer to 50 than it has at other times, but he’s still in there at 48 overall in January ADP. That puts him at RB15 off the board, one spot ahead of last week’s featured running back, RJ Harvey. His DLF Expert Ranking is similar to his ADP, RB14 and 45th overall.
It seems like there are really only two threats on the horizon for Williams’s dynasty value. We could continue to see Blake Corum demand a larger role, but he had his opportunities this season and didn’t pull the job away from Williams. On the other hand, we could see Matthew Stafford retire this off-season. This offense is loaded, but if Stafford does retire, he leaves behind a huge hole at the most important position. The draft class is underwhelming and the free agent group is potentially headlined by Malik Willis. Stetson Bennett is on the roster, but we’ve seen next to nothing from him in his first three NFL seasons. Personally, I believe Stafford will come back for one more ride at a Super Bowl. He came so close this season, and the roster is loaded up to make another run. As long as Stafford is under center, my bet is that Williams will have another top 10 running back season. At an RB15 price tag, he’s a really nice value this off-season.

DYNASTY PERSPECTIVE THROUGH FANTASY POINTS PER GAME: QBs
The dynasty world can be an optical illusion, where everything is not what it appears to be. On the surface you can see the landscape, however looking deeper can uncover a new meaning, a different perspective. In this four-part series, I’ll be discovering the true takeaways from the dynasty world – through the contrasting of overall fantasy points scored versus the fantasy points per game (FPPG) in 2025.
FPPG is key to understanding a player’s true performance. Why would we consider yearly totals when we play a weekly game? Focusing purely on the overall output misses key information such as games missed through injury, which can skew outlook based on random events. Focusing on FPPG compares players on a level playing field, game versus game, to truly identify their fantasy effectiveness.
The first article in the series focuses on quarterbacks, contrasting the overall output against the weekly output from 2025 (excluding week 18).
Jaxson Dart, QB NYG
QB16 Overall (219.2 fantasy points)
QB14 in FPPG (16.9 fantasy points)
First off all, I want to jump in on one of the less obvious discrepancies between overall fantasy output and FPPG. 2025 rookie quarterback Dart was solid as the QB14 in FPPG, slightly better than his overall QB16 performance, however if you take away two games where he played less than 5% of snaps at the start of the season, his FPPG rockets up to QB6 (19.9 FPPG). The impressive output was supplemented with excellent rushing production, where Dart was the QB2 overall in rushing yards per game (41.4) and his 0.81 rushing touchdowns per game ratio was right up there with the QB1 overall Josh Allen’s (0.88 per game).
In his 11 games as a starter, Dart was consistent and productive, displaying his elite ceiling with four games inside the top four, seven games as a QB1 and only one game outside of QB2 numbers against an impressive Vikings defense. Given the context and situation, Dart’s rookie production was excellent – playing without superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers, his primary weapon being pint-sized slot receiver Wan’Dale Robinson and a mid-season firing of head coach Brian Daboll. Also Dart only played three games with exciting running back Cam Skattebo, making his performance even more impressive.
Verdict
Dart’s true fantasy performance is masked by a smaller sample size and the inclusion of two games of playing at less than 5% of snaps. Injuries hit his key weapons and a mid-season change in head coach made it a difficult situation to perform, yet the more accurate QB6 in FFPG finish should have dynasty managers filled with positivity. Excellent rushing output is key for his floor and ceiling and even without considering the strong hire of new head coach John Harbaugh, the arrow is firmly pointing up on Dart. The current market value around the QB9 is inaccurate and it is easy to predict a Drake Maye-like ascension for Dart in 2026.
