Spanish fans may have been doing backflips when their team won the World Cup this week, but the backflip heard around the world took place at Fanatics Fest this past weekend. Cam Skattebo, who missed the final ten games of last season with an ankle injury, over-rotated on one of his signature backflips, and ended up falling on his backside. The video went viral, and dynasty managers panicked that their young running back may have suffered another injury before even putting pads back on. Luckily, Skattebo says he’s perfectly fine, and promised he will not hurt himself before the season. Despite his promise, dynasty managers are right to be concerned. Skattebo has a history of questionable decision-making; he can be seen as hard-headed, both on the field and off of it. It’s all in good fun, until something terrible happens. On the field, it sounds like he’s going to be back and ready to go for the start of the season. The Giants, with John Harbaugh on the headset, are expected to lean heavily on the run, so they need Skattebo to be healthy this season. If he can stay on the field, then dynasty managers should have a great asset at running back.

Late last week, the Saints and Alvin Kamara agreed to a restructured contract, keeping him in the Big Easy for another season. Kamara took a pay cut to avoid being released; he’ll now earn $6 million as a base salary and could earn up to $8.5 million in incentives. He’s coming off career lows in rushing yards (471), receiving yards (186), and total touchdowns (1), and he’ll turn 31 before the start of this season. Kamara can still be a valuable piece of this offense, but he can not lead a backfield as he did for so long in New Orleans. The team signed Travis Etienne to a four-year deal, and he will be the leader of the backfield this year.

With players returning to training camp over the next couple of weeks or so, the first thing they’ll need to do is pass a physical. You will see players being placed on PUP, more specifically the active/PUP list. This is different from the reserve/PUP list! Players on the active/PUP can be activated at any time during training camp or pre-season, oftentimes after they are finally able to pass their physical. As training camp goes on, players could start to be placed on the reserve/PUP list, which means they’ll have to miss at least the first four games of the season. Moral of the story: don’t overreact to headlines saying your players are placed on PUP over the next week or so. Alec Pierce, Tucker Kraft, Malik Nabers, George Kittle, Daniel Jones, and Zach Charbonnet are all players that could likely end up on active/PUP at the start of training camp.

Everybody wants a piece of the Bears offense this year. Ben Johnson changed the culture in the Windy City. The Bears have always been a defensive powerhouse, but last season the offense was the key to their success. Caleb Williams, Luther Burden, Rome Odunze and Colston Loveland are all highly sought after dynasty fantasy football assets, but there is significantly less hype for the running back position. The position is likely to be split between D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, but Swift is generally considered the player to have in this backfield. Let’s dive into Swift’s value in dynasty leagues, and if he’s being forgotten about in Ben Johnson’s mighty Midway offense.

D’Andre Swift’s Dynasty ADP history, per DLF

Once upon a time (in 2021), Swift was a top-five player in dynasty fantasy football leagues. At 27 years-old, and on his third NFL team, his value has dropped significantly from that point. He’s now the RB25 in dynasty startup drafts, going off the board at 79 overall in one-quarterback leagues. In his two-year tenure with the Bears, that’s about where he’s hovered the whole time, other than a significant drop at the end of the 2024 season. The value rebounded after they hired Ben Johnson, and didn’t address running back as a priority in the Draft. The DLF Dynasty Rankings are a bit lower on Swift, slotting him in at RB26 and 82nd overall.

Swift quietly had the best fantasy finish of his career last season, ranking 15th in RB PPR scoring. He scored a career-high 10 total touchdowns and ran for over 1,000 yards for the second time in his career. The success of the Bears offense brought about more high-leverage opportunities for Swift, and he took advantage of it. He has never been a bell-cow running back, especially at his age and with his injury history, but he’s still the leader in this backfield. Kyle Monangai had a good rookie season for a seventh-rounder, but he’s the 1B and he doesn’t do as much in the passing-game. Swift is a great way to get a piece of this Bears offense on your team, without paying the astronomical price of their passing-game weapons.

Devy Rankings Tiers: Wide Receiver

On to the third installment of my devy ranking tiers. We have hit on the quarterback and running back positions; now on to the wide receiver position. And boy, do I love this class!

This receiver class has gotten enormous amounts of hype even before their draft cycle started, and for good reason. Not only does this class have some truly elite talent sitting at the top, but it is extremely deep. There is a very high chance we see six-eight receivers from the 2027 class alone make it into the first round of this upcoming NFL draft. But let’s not waste any more time and dive into the tiers!

Tier 1 Notes

To kick things off, Jeremiah Smith is the WR1 in this class and it isn’t particularly close. I won’t go super in depth since everyone has, but let’s just say he is a do-it-all type of receiver. Not many, if any, flaws to his game. And it is rare that a wide receiver even gets mentioned to be the #1 pick, let alone it not being a crazy idea.

I fell in love with Dakorien Moore’s tape. He does not get enough hype but should be talked about in a similar light as Smith. He is listed sub six-foot, but he plays much bigger. He is fantastic in contested-catch situations and electric with the ball in his hands. With his QB returning, I expect a monster year from him and the hype train to be full steam ahead.

Now on to perhaps my favorite prospect to watch, Charlie Becker. I was skeptical going into his tape after hearing some of the buzz on him, but his film is as advertised. Becker can win at all levels of the field. He wins at the line of scrimmage while he also has the speed to win over the top. His route running is top-notch, and he wins consistently at the catch point. I fully expect him to continue to generate buzz and be in contention to be a top-ten pick in this upcoming draft.

Tier 2 Notes

I was a big fan of Nick Marsh going into last season but a lackluster season seems to have pushed him down some boards. For me, I still see an athletically gifted player with solid route running who can win one on one match-ups. While there are more mouths to feed at Indiana, the offense and QB play should be significantly better and put him in better situations.

The Clemson receiver duo was a tough one for me. They are honestly interchangeable in ranking. Both guys are athletic and electric with the ball in their hands. They can both get over the top of defenses. I think I slightly prefer the size of TJ Moore but again, both are studs and fully capable of being first-round picks next year.
