THERE IS NO OFF-SEASON
ISSUE #33

We’d like a word with the NFL schedule makers. Even if you survived “byepocolpyse” or byemegedon”, you are not out of the clear. Four more teams have a bye in Week 9, including teams with plenty of fantasy goodness on them, like the Eagles and Bucs. If that’s not bad enough, Week 10 brings another four byes. Missing in action that week are all the studs from the Bengals, Chiefs, and Cowboys. Yikes.
Then we have weeks when only two teams are off, and in Week 13, there are no byes. Week 14, fantasy playoff season for most, we have another four teams off. What gives? Could we not have a balanced schedule, or better yet, extend the season and give each team two byes?
We digress. If all the byes weren’t bad enough in Week 8, we lost fan favorite Cam Skateboo for the season. “Next man up” has never been more apparent than this season for the studs out there. But this is also a reminder of why we hold on to “roster cloggers” like Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary in dynasty leagues. We are one snap away from them suddenly being relevant again.
Cam wasn’t the only starting RB to go down. Isaiah Pachco is now week-to-week. On the QB front, injuries and ineptitude are shaping the landscape for the second half of the season. Can we interest anyone in a Max Brosmer? How about a Tyler Shough? Bueller? Bueller?
JT and the Colts keep doing their thing. Remember the great JT/CEH debate back in 2020? Wow. The Jets finally got a win. Does that mean the 1976 Bucs, 2008 Lions, and 2017 Browns pop the proverbial champagne? The Falcons seem to still be searching for an identity. They can beat the Bills, but lose to the Dophins. Go figure.
Speaking of the Jets, Breece Hall is said to be on the trade block. So are some of the Saints' wideouts. Rashid Shaheed to the Bills to catch deep balls from JA17? Yes, please. Jayden and Lamar are said to be returning to practice this Wednesday, so we have that going for us.
The Scott Fish Bowl is trucking along. SFB15 playoffs are already nearing. Week 11 is the cutoff. Congrats to those who have already locked up a spot. Remember, it’s never too late to donate. Yours truly currently sits at 710th (2285.18 points). Hopefully, you drafted for depth, not only in SFB but in all of your leagues. Those bye weeks can be a killer.

We mentioned Tyrone Tracy Jr returning to relevance. It wasn’t too awfully long ago that he was a reliable fantasy asset. Oh, wait, that was last season. Tracy started slowly due to the aforementioned Devin Singletary. Once he took over, the youngster was more than serviceable.

In fact, he was better than Breece Hall most weeks down the stretch. Tracy finished the season as the RB28 in PPR formats. We can expect similar production from him in the second half of the season now that Cam is out for the season. The Giants will likely bring in a veteran backup, but Tracy should be the featured back.
With Dart as the starting QB, the production could be even better than 2024. We definitely would be sending out feelers if you are competing for a ‘ship this year. And, given the nature of how hard Skateboo plays, this may not be the last time the Purdue grad fills in. He’s under contract through 2027.

TACTICAL TRANSACTIONS: WEEK NINE
“Don’t really want to make it tough,
I just wanna tell you that I’ve had enough,
It might sound crazy, but it ain’t no lie,
Baby, bye, bye, bye.”
-Bye Bye Bye (NSYNC)
That’s right, we went with a ’90s boy band to light this candle!
I’m well aware that this classic tune is an ode to young heartbreak, and not, in fact, off-weeks for NFL franchises. But with the week eight “bye-pocalypse” (six teams on bye) now in the rearview, the literal sledgehammer of the words still hits even if the metaphorical meaning doesn’t. Though in fairness, don’t we all want to tell the schedulers that we’ve had enough of them making it tough on us?
Unfortunately, we have four more weeks with four teams on bye. As such, the struggles aren’t over yet. And while I don’t typically advise making trades to paper over holes created by byes, it can indeed be part of the calculus when an additional win could mean a… wait for it… playoff bye. See how it comes full circle?
Let’s get to it!
Disclaimer! As you’re well aware by the fact you’ve come to a website entitled dynastyleaguefootball.com, we’re still taking a long view into account in addition to each player’s weekly (and year-to-date) output. Guidance will continue to take into account a player’s current stature in tools such as DLF’s ADP and rankings, in addition to how he’s performed.
One last note, as I’m referencing DLF ADP and rankings, advice herein is for a 12-team, non-superflex setting with full PPR scoring. Divergent league settings (both for starting positions and scoring) hopefully shouldn’t render this advice as not actionable, but it’s an important disclaimer nonetheless.
With that preamble in hand, here are the tactical transactions you should consider before week nine:
Tucker Kraft, TE GB
Week 8 Line: 7-143-2 (9 targets)
We knew the Green Bay depth chart was going to be messy, and with five pass catchers seeing more than 50% of available snaps, you would think the resultant output would be sporadic and chaotic. Instead, it’s all been a bit orderly – Kraft and Romeo Doubs lead the team in snap percentage, and subsequently targets, yards and touchdowns. After returning from injury it seems like Christian Watson may be ready to make some noise, but it’s unlikely to come at the expense of the team’s top duo.
