THERE IS NO OFF-SEASON
ISSUE #31

The injury bug bit in week six of the NFL season, and it bit hard. 2025 has already been a tough year for injuries, with Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Malik Nabers, Tyreek Hill, CeeDee Lamb, and plenty more spending time in street clothes, but week six took it to a whole new level. Garrett Wilson, Emeka Egbuka, and Puka Ncaua highlight the carnage. Three of the best and brightest dynasty wide receivers this year are looking at potentially lengthy absences. Of course, you can go to the waiver wire and try to replace them, but that’s extremely difficult, especially in dynasty leagues, where benches are deeper and young players are more likely to be stashed. Even Bucs WR and MVP hopeful Tez Johnson is probably stashed in most dynasty leagues.
On top of the injuries, the bye weeks are really starting to stack up. There are only two this week, but they’re two critical fantasy teams, Buffalo and Baltimore. Next week, six whole teams will be on bye, nearly 19% of the league is taking a scheduled week off. It’s going to be so difficult to even start a full starting lineup next week with all of the injuries and bye weeks, but who said dynasty fantasy football is easy? If it was, DLF wouldn’t exist and you wouldn’t be reading this newsletter!
While more and more players are hitting the injury report, one player is coming back this week after an extended absence. Rashee Rice has finally served his NFL-enforced punishment for his 2024 car accident, and he’ll make his season-debut against the Raiders this week. The Chiefs have had a roller coaster season, but they seemingly turned the page in their Sunday Night victory over the Lions. Patrick Mahomes has been looking like a potential GOAT candidate once again, and he’ll finally get his full complement of pass-catchers this weekend. Hollywood Brown is coming off a huge two-touchdown performance, but he could see his usage fall off with the return of Rice.
Looking ahead to week seven, we have another London game to wake up early for this week. That’s four weeks in a row where there’s been an early international game, luckily we get a respite from them in week eight. The Eagles are coming off a frustrating loss and a mini-bye week, but they have to go to Minnesota to play Brian Flores’s suffocating defense. The Vikings are hoping to have JJ McCarthy back for the first time since week two. The Colts will put their 5-1 record on the line in a road matchup against the 4-2 Chargers. There’s also another Monday Night double-header, featuring an exciting matchup between the actual MVP favorite Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff’s beat-up Lions.

Don’t look now, but the New England Patriots are in first place in the AFC East, riding a three-game winning streak into week 8. While the defense is doing their job, and the coaching staff has taken a massive step up over last year’s staff, almost all of the praise for this winning streak has to be placed on the shoulders of Drake Maye. He’s looked incredible this season, pushing the ball deep down the field and protecting the football better than he ever has. The 2024 quarterback class is looking better and better every week, but Maye is making a case for the top signal caller of that loaded group. Let’s take a look at his dynasty value and if he should be a target in trades this week.

Drake Maye’s Dynasty ADP History
At this time last season, Maye’s ADP hit a career-low at 193.25 overall in one-quarterback leagues. Now, he’s going over 100 picks earlier, jumping up to 68.5 overall off the board. That means he’s the QB6 in dynasty leagues, sandwiched between Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. The DLF Expert Rankings have Maye as the QB7, 67th overall off the board. Joe Burrow is the QB that moves up over Maye in the expert rankings, he’s the QB5 there, but the QB11 in ADP.
Maye has been a top 10 quarterback in four of his last five games. The one game he failed to get there was arguably one of his best games as a pro, leading the Patriots to a road win over the Bills. The buying opportunity for Maye was better a few weeks ago, but it could reopen again over the next couple of weeks. Maye will go on the road to play the Titans (29th best matchup for fantasy quarterbacks this season). Then he has home games against Cleveland (25th) and Atlanta (28th). The Patriots also need to get their running game going, and that could be the focus of the offense in the upcoming weeks. If his ADP begins to dip, I’d be ready to pounce in the trade market. Regardless of whether you can get him in a trade, it looks like the Patriots have got their guy at quarterback!

DYNASTY MARKETPLACE: WEEK SIX
Welcome to the Dynasty Marketplace – an in-season weekly article series, providing reaction, market projection and advice for assets across the dynasty landscape. Each week I’ll be highlighting four trending assets to discuss their recent performance, value projection and the recommended actions at the dynasty marketplace.
Cam Skattebo, RB NYG
Market Rank: ~RB13
Market Value: ~2026 mid to late first round pick
Value Trend: Positive
Volatility: Low
Skattebo was an absolute menace on the Giants’ Thursday Night Football victory over the Eagles – with a whopping 31 fantasy points, making him tied as the RB3 on the week (pre-Monday Night Football). On the ground he delivered 98 rushing yards and a touchdown treble, despite backup running back Tyrone Tracy’s return from injury. Skattebo looked like a clear bell cow and solid in all phases of the game. It was his best fantasy performance of the season, albeit we’ve seen other running backs have their best fantasy performance in a short week (both Christian McCaffrey and Kyren Williams in week five). Skattebo is the RB11 in fantasy points per game (FPPG) but taking out the 12% snap week one performance, it rises to RB6 in FPPG on the season.
Rookie running back Skattebo has made an immediate impact, with strong fantasy output leading to positively trending at the dynasty market. In the last five games Skattebo has finished as high as the RB3 with a floor of RB22, based upon excellent volume and versatility (including multiple games with six receptions). The volatility of him being a running back drafted in round four and on a questionable offense have been mitigated by the introduction of the exciting Jaxson Dart at quarterback and above-average game tape. Whilst there remains uncertainty regarding the coaching staff beyond 2025, Skattebo has shown he is worthy of a significant role in a backfield and his charisma endears him to the dynasty landscape – arguably the most impressive rookie running back from the 2025 class.
While Skattebo profiles more of a volume play as opposed to explosive option, he works well in all phases and has displayed the durability to be an impact player in dynasty. As a contender, I’m happy to make a move now, including my late 2026 first-round pick and a bench asset, ideally you make the move to strengthen a top-two record and push for the playoff bye. On the other side as a rebuilder, I think you can be patient and pivot in a few weeks’ time, as I see Skattebo’s value rising even further towards a mid-RB1. Ideally you can get a 2026 first and second from a team on the fringe of the playoffs, with scope to land a mid-first round draft pick in 2026.

Justin Fields, QB NYJ
Market Rank: ~QB26
Market Value: ~2026 early second round pick
Value Trend: Negative
Volatility: High
