THERE IS NO OFF-SEASON
ISSUE #35

Ten weeks are down in the dynasty fantasy football regular season, and for most leagues, that means there are only four weeks left to earn a 2025 playoff spot. This part of the season always seems to fly by, while you’re distracted by holiday plans, shopping, and feasting, all of a sudden the fantasy playoffs are here! I like to take this time to analyze my schedule and the league standings. Are there any crucial matchups coming up that I need to plan ahead for? Standings are often tight, and sometimes a win in a critical game can be doubly important, because it means a loss for a rival you’re battling for a playoff spot. If you have any of those matchups on your schedule, be sure your bye weeks are all sorted out for that week, and have backup options at the ready in case there is an injury. In fact, now is a great time to ensure your handcuff situation is secure for the playoff run. Players like Tyler Allgeier, Chuba Hubbard, Kyle Monangai, and Jordan Mason are cheaper now than they would be after an injury. If you roster that starting running back, don’t wait for an injury to make sure your backup is also on your roster.
Davis Mills was this past week’s highest scoring quarterback, just like everyone predicted, right? Mills showed off the wheels, rushing for a game-winning touchdown in an improbable comeback against the Jaguars. Stroud should be back this week from his concussion, but Mills won me an important superflex matchup this week, so I had to shout him out!
The top running backs were three of the top four scorers on the season, Jonathan Taylor, De’Von Achane, and Jahmyr Gibbs. We’ll talk more about Jonathan Taylor in a bit, so let’s focus on Achane, who topped 40 PPR points for the first time this season on Sunday. It was certainly his best game of the season, but Achane has been incredibly consistent, going over 15 PPR points in every game this season except one. While the Dolphins’ season has been a disaster, Achane has been the lone bright spot. He had a season-high 28 touches in this one, topping his previous high of 23. Hopefully, he’ll continue to be the centerpiece of this offense, especially in a good matchup this week against the Commanders.
Two first-round rookies got bad injury news this week, starting with Travis Hunter, who will miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery. Hunter’s absence seemed especially noticeable this week in the blown loss to the Texans. The Jaguars need someone who can consistently catch the football, hopefully Jakobi Meyers can become that guy for them.
Jaxson Dart is the other unfortunate rookie, who was knocked out of last week’s game with a concussion, allowing the Bears to earn the come-from-behind victory. While the concussion won’t keep Dart out for long, it is a concerning trend. He’s had to be screened for a concussion twice before, and this time he was finally diagnosed with one. It’s the double-edged sword of Jaxson Dart. On one hand, his most valuable asset is his rushing ability, but it’s also the asset that puts him in the most danger. In fact, the inability to keep Dart on the field may be part of the reason Brian Daboll lost his job this week. Either way, the Giants and Dart need to figure out how to keep him on the field, and hopefully that doesn’t take too much away from his fantasy upside.
This week’s action kicks off tonight with the Jets traveling to Foxborough to take on the Patriots. Then, the marquee matchup of the week comes Sunday afternoon, when the Broncos play host to the Chiefs. The Chiefs have bounced back after a slow start, but find themselves 2.5 games behind the Broncos right now. This may be close to a must-win game for Mahomes and the Chiefs if they want a chance to take the division. Some of the shine has started to wear off of Bo Nix this season, as the Broncos have gotten to this point leaning on the defense more than the offense. Nix is the QB12 in fantasy points per game, averaging 18.6 a week.

The time has finally come for us to acknowledge the incredible season Jonathan Taylor is having. After scoring thrice on his way to a 49.6 point performance, Taylor is leading all fantasy scorers with 27.4 points per game. He’s well on his way to the best season of his career, a six-year career that includes an RB1 finish in 2021. He’s been one of the best running backs in the league over that timeframe, but he doesn’t get the same hype that Derrick Henry, Christian McCaffrey or Saquon Barkley has gotten. So, let’s dig into the value of Jonathan Taylor and analyze the proper course of action in dynasty leagues.

Jonathan Taylor’s Dynasty ADP History.
In December of 2021, Taylor’s value topped out at number one overall. That means in that month, you could have traded him for anyone in the entire league. Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, McCaffrey and Barkley, Taylor was more valuable than all of them. Obviously, his value has decreased in drafts, bottoming out last December, when he was going at pick 42.75 overall, the tenth running back off the board. Last month saw a big leap, up to 16 overall and RB5. That number should jump again when the November ADP is dropped in the coming days. Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton are the only players being taken over the 26 year-old running back. The DLF Expert Rankings put him at 18 overall and RB4 off the board (jumping ahead of Hampton).
Frankly, I believe that value is a bit too high for Taylor. He has plenty of wear and tear on his legs for a 26 year-old player, and he’s missed time in three straight seasons prior to this one. He’s racking up points this season, but a lot of that has to do with the success of the offense. We’ve seen the floor fall out for Daniel Jones’ offenses in the past, so it’s tough to predict this run will continue into next season and beyond. With that being said, I’m not suggesting you should sell him right now. If he’s on your team, you’re likely sitting pretty in the standings right now. Taylor is on the type of hot streak that you need to ride out through the end of the season. He’s a league-winning player, and if you try to get cute and “sell high,” you’ll be handing over that league-winning asset to a competitor. Hold onto him, and hope that he continues to be matchup-proof with a tough schedule down the stretch.

THREE ROOKIES OUTPERFORMING THEIR DRAFT STATUS
There are few periods of time that are more exciting for dynasty teams than rookie draft season. No matter how you fared in the previous season, you have an opportunity to add fresh talent to rejuvenate your roster. We rightly celebrate the elite talent at the top of the first round, but deep rosters are built by finding value throughout the draft.
As we see every season, 2025 has brought immediate stars as well as disappointing performances. The NFL is hard, and not everyone has the goods to thrive immediately. We also see overlooked prospects find their niche every season, which is where we are focusing today. Below are three rookies who have found their footing early, giving us a different perspective on their long-term outlooks.
Woody Marks, RB HOU
Despite being productive at both Mississippi State and USC, Marks did not have a lot of juice as a rookie draft prospect. Decent draft capital and long-term opportunity in the Houston backfield were not enough to push Marks up draft boards.
Getting any production out of an early fourth-round rookie pick is free money, and Marks has worked his way into a timeshare in Houston. There is no question Joe Mixon’s mysterious injury has lent him a helping hand, but it would be easy to see Marks working in tandem with Mixon were the veteran healthy.
The raw numbers are not overwhelming. Marks has 304 yards on 81 carries, on a modest 3.8 yards per carry. He has added 183 yards on 15 receptions, flashing the receiving upside he showed during his two stops in college. Context, of course, is key. The Texans have an overmatched offensive line, and the work is split pretty much down the middle, with Nick Chubb having 107 touches to Marks’ 96.
Marks has climbed to 20th overall and RB9 in DLF’s rookie rankings, a more fitting placement for someone with his profile. The Texans’ backfield will be interesting to watch this off-season. We would expect Chubb to move on, and Mixon’s health will be under the microscope. Marks has done plenty to earn a role for this team in 2026, even if he remains in a committee with a yet-to-be-added runner.
Chimere Dike, WR TEN
If you have not been paying attention to the Titans, I can hardly blame you. Things are a mess in Nashville, and you would be hard-pressed to find a fantasy starter on this roster outside of the deepest of leagues.
