June 1 was a major day in the NFL world, flipping the calendar to “post-June 1”, allowing teams to spread salary cap penalties for cut and traded players across two seasons. It was the day that everyone expected AJ Brown to be traded to the Patriots, and the worst-kept secret in football certainly delivered. The Patriots acquired Brown for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-rounder. This move has been analyzed for months, but now that it’s official, we can actually adjust his dynasty value. Brown will be the sure-fire WR1 on the Patriots, a player they’ve been desperate for since Randy Moss. Drake Maye showed upside last season, but a stud receiver will help even more. Brown needs to overcome his knee issues, and buy into the Patriots’ vision and game plan, but he could be looked at as a high-end WR2 for contending teams this season. Devonta Smith is a big winner left behind on the Eagles, along with rookie Makai Lemon. The other big trade on Monday was more of a surprise, but rumors were rumbling over the weekend. The Rams traded away their top pass-rusher (Jared Verse), a 2027 first, 2028 second, and 2029 third for the best defensive player in football, Myles Garrett. Los Angeles appears to be going all in on another Super Bowl, with Matthew Stafford coming off of an MVP campaign at 38 years old and Davante Adams on the tail-end of his career as well. While the offense has been dominant, the Rams have made several moves to improve their defense this off-season, bringing in Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson in the secondary. Both of the pass-rushers on the move are still highly-rated IDP players, regardless of the uniform they’re wearing. 

This week saw a flurry of veteran free agent wide receivers signed by the Giants. Odell Beckham Jr. is the headline, reuniting with the team that made him a fantasy football superstar early on in his career. They also signed JuJu Smith-Schuster and Braxton Berrios. Earlier in the off-season, they brought in Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin, and drafted third-rounder Malachi Fields. It’s clear that John Harbaugh and Joe Schoen were not comfortable with the WR depth on this team, but could this also be a bad sign for Malik Nabers? Nabers suffered a torn ACL last September, and he also underwent an unexpected “cleanup” surgery this off-season to remove scar tissue. Nabers participated in Brian Burns’s celebrity softball game over the weekend, and he was moving gingerly, at best. Panic about his status has been on the rise in recent weeks, and this week was another setback for his dynasty value.

AJ Brown is the player of the week, so let’s dig into his current dynasty fantasy football value after the long-awaited trade to the Patriots. Brown had a very up-and-down campaign in Philadelphia, winning a Super Bowl in 2023, and reading a book on the sideline at the end of 2024 season. Last season, he missed time with a knee injury, but displayed his ceiling in five 100+ yard receiving games. Can he stay healthy, on the field, and in the right headspace in his reunion with Mike Vrabel in New England? Let’s take a look at his ADP and rankings at Dynasty League Football!

Brown’s ADP fell out of the top forty this past season, for the first time since his rookie season. He’s been one of the best wide receivers in the game since then, but age and injuries appeared to catch up to him last season. Now, with the rumored move to New England, he’s back up in the top 40, being selected at WR21 and 37 overall in the month of May. I expect that number to jump even higher once June ADP is released. Brown’s standing in the DLF Expert Rankings is much lower, down at 61 overall and WR30 off the board. 

Brown’s ADP is much higher than his expert ranking, which signals a sell-high window for Brown. He’ll play this whole season at 29 years old, and he’s missed time in each of the last two seasons. I think the move to New England is a clear upgrade for him. The Patriots don’t have a DeVonta Smith, or even a Dallas Goedert, on this roster. Brown is far and away the best receiver on this team, and he’s a perfect fit for Drake Maye’s play style. He’ll see plenty of targets in zone breakers, along with deep shots down the field. Brown’s move to New England is a dynasty upgrade, but perhaps not as much as the public thinks it will be.

Downs has been the hottest name in the dynasty streets in recent weeks. After the Colts traded away Michael Pittman and passed on the WR position in the NFL Draft until the seventh round, Downs’s value skyrocketed. Previously a slot-only receiver, Downs is now cemented in the lineup as a top-two receiver along with Alec Pierce. He’s not going to be coming off the field as much this season, and should see an increase in routes run and opportunities this season. At only 24 years old, Downs is an obvious breakout candidate heading into the 2026 season.
