This is my personal weekly Dynasty Blueprint. This article and all of the content on DLF is for you, the reader. The goal is to make you a better dynasty player and bring home some titles. Hopefully, this will help you reach that goal.

Here are the five dynasty-related stories that have my attention coming off the season opener of NFL action.

Across the NFL and the fantasy football community, the Chicago Bears were the top story of the opening week. Their 59-point outburst gave Windy City fans hope and caused dynasty managers to dream about monster performances from their bevy of young playmakers.

In Week Two, the Bears are back atop the headlines for all the wrong reasons. After trailing at home much of the day, the Bears had a chance to take the lead late in the game. Quarterback Caleb Williams, the QB1 from a week ago, broke free and attempted to jump over a defender. He was tripped up and went down in pain, writhing on the ground and screaming in agony. It was a worst-case situation for the Bears. Williams would be carted off and later diagnosed with a hamstring injury, with more updates to come as the week unfolds. We’re uncertain how long Williams will be out, but for dynasty managers, he’s not the only problem with this young squad.

For the second straight week, all three of the Bears’ young pass-catchers were complete duds. Rome Odunze, Luther Burden and Colston Loveland have not even come close to living up to the non-stop off-season hype. Loveland did catch a pass this week, but just one and for only three yards. There’s no way to spin this in a positive way after two games. It doesn’t mean some or all of this trio can’t bounce back, but it’s only taken two weeks for dynasty managers to turn on them, and the situation is unlikely to improve with Tyson Bagent under center.

Williams wasn’t the only star quarterback from the class of 2024 to go down with a serious injury. As things often do in DC, history is repeating itself. Jayden Daniels tripped over his center’s feet and stumbled awkwardly, barely getting away a poor pass attempt and a crucial fourth-down play at the end of the first half. As his teammates and competitors headed for the locker rooms, Daniels lay on the ground, soon to be surrounded by medical staff and veteran backup Marcus Mariota. The replay was so difficult to watch that Tom Brady let an expletive slip out, surely matching the thoughts of dynasty managers everywhere.

Daniels’ attempt to brace himself resulted in the same injury he had a season ago, a dislocated elbow. Last year, he didn’t require surgery and was back on the field in about four weeks. That could be the case again, or Daniels and the team could opt for surgery and likely end his season. As with Williams, and so many more Week Two players, we wait for more information.

This is just another mark against Daniels when it comes to a lengthy injury history. He entered the league with a Heisman Trophy win but multiple lost games due to a variety of injuries. After a healthy and successful rookie season, dynasty managers gave Daniels a pass as he skyrocketed to an ADP of QB2 late in his rookie season. Multiple injuries last year cost him some value, but he remained among the top-six dynasty quarterbacks in our monthly ADP. An extended absence, especially one that would cost him the entire season, would decimate Daniels’ dynasty value.

Mariota, by the way, should make for a nice waiver wire target this week. He drew multiple starts in place of Daniels last season and produced four QB1 games. This season’s version of the Commanders is even better after adding Stefon Diggs, Antonio Williams, and Chig Okonkwo to the fold.
