CRASHING DYNASTY VALUE
Rashee Rice made headlines last off-season—but not the kind we like to see.
In early April of 2024, Rice was involved in a street racing accident that resulted in a multi-vehicle crash on a Dallas highway. He fled the scene. Charges followed. The legal system is working through it (slowly), but the NFL has seen enough: a suspension is likely coming.
This situation is complex—both on and off the field.
Rice's 2024 season was supposed to be about building on a strong rookie year and stepping into a full-time role in the league’s most valuable passing offense. Instead, it was filled with crisis management, public silence, and a season-ending knee injury.
And yet... uncertainty creates value.
When a dynasty asset hits turbulence, managers panic. That’s understandable. But in situations like this—especially with young, productive players tied to elite quarterbacks—panic almost always leads to mispricing.
The Chiefs’ coaching staff seems anything but uncertain about Rice’s value to the team. Head Coach Andy Reid had this to say about Rice’s fit on the team:
“He’s as good as we were hoping he would be. The thing you don’t know when you get into this is the work ethic. He works his tail off. His willingness to get with Pat (Mahomes) and to listen – ‘Hey, let’s work in this area.’ To get with (Travis) Kelce and drain Kelce of some of his knowledge. He’s very receptive to all that.”
The dynasty community still doesn’t know what to do with Rashee Rice. And that uncertainty? That’s your edge.

Let’s refocus on what happened on the field in his rookie season (2023):
✅ 4th in the NFL in YAC per reception (among WRs with 50+ targets)
✅ Led all rookie WRs in red zone targets
✅ Averaged 8.4 targets, 6.3 receptions, and 78.7 yards from Week 12 through the playoffs
✅ Was Patrick Mahomes’ most trusted wideout by season’s end
Before the off-field incident, Rice was firmly locked into the top 30 of our DLF Dynasty Rankings. His trajectory was ascending—quickly.
Then, the Chiefs signed Hollywood Brown and drafted Xavier Worthy. Then Rice’s legal issues surfaced. His value quickly declined, with probable suspension and potential loss of targets. But neither happened prior to the 2024 season, which saw Rice increase in snap percentage, targets per game, and fantasy points per game before suffering a knee injury that ended his season only 4 games in.
But here’s the truth: none of those roster moves were made to replace him. They were made to elevate the offense as a whole. Mahomes has never had a clear WR1 post-Tyreek Hill—and Rice looked ready to fill that void until the crash and then again in 2024 until the injury. The addition of Jalen Royals in the 4th round of this year’s draft doesn’t move the needle either.
And now? His value still hasn’t quite bounced back to where it was previously.
We’ve seen this type of dynasty dip before: Tyreek Hill, Alvin Kamara, Joe Mixon, even Amon-Ra St. Brown during his rookie year (when the offense sputtered).
When the public overcorrects for short-term volatility, long-term value becomes a bargain.

We ran Rashee Rice through our DLF Trade Finder, and we found a few trades that were jarring:
🪫 Rashee Rice + 1.08 + 2.04 for the 2025 1.02
🔄 Rice straight-up for the 1.10
🔄 Rice for rookie WR Jayden Higgins and the 3.10
These aren’t “buy-low” deals. They’re fire sales.
Many dynasty managers aren’t adjusting—they’re exiting. But that’s not always the optimal move.
Use Contender vs. Rebuild Analysis to decide your approach:
If you're rebuilding or retooling: Rice is a high-ceiling stash
If you're contending and comfortable with risk: Use the unknown to put together a buy-low package to acquire Rice
If you’re contending and risk-averse: Leverage his name value and volatility to land a win-now WR in a package
Most importantly: our Dynasty ADP Comparison Tool shows the full scope of Rice’s dip—and how it compares to other WRs in flux. If a short suspension (or none at all) is announced, the buy window likely closes, and his value resumes its climb. Embrace uncomfortability.
